The Rosary Altar Society is one of the oldest in the Church and possibly the most enriched with indulgences and privileges.
The primary purpose of the Altar & Rosary Society is to praise and honor the Blessed Virgin Mary and to secure her patronage of our parish by the recitation of the rosary for the mutual benefit of all the members and for the people throughout the world.
The Altar & Rosary Society of St. Mary's Parish consists of all the women who belong to the parish. The other purpose of the organization is to unite all the women of the parish in religious, social, and charitable activities. St. Mary's ARS hosts regular Sunday fellowships, for the benefit of the parish and to honor special events such as First Communion and Graduation. They organize fundraisers to raise funds to assist in the purchasing of altar flowers, altar linens, hosts, and candles. They host funeral luncheons. They purchase gifts for our pastor's birthday and anniversary. They tend to the cleaning needs of the church sanctuary and the school hall. The parish greatly depends on the ARS!
A president, vice president, secretary, and treasurer are elected each April for a one (1) year term. Currently, there are six groups of women who take turns helping with the various duties of ARS. Each group has two co-chairs who serve a two-year term.
Current activities and fundraisers are listed on the News & Calendar Page of this Web site.
Some of the charitable activities sponsored by the
Altar & Rosary Society each year are:
Madonna Plan -
Supports mother & child clinics, village water
systems and training programs for young mothers
in third world countries.
Seminary -
It helps to pay for the education of priests.
Project Milk -
Provides dried milk for the poor of our diocesan
missions in Bolivia and Peru.
Low Sunday Collection (DCCW) (Divine Mercy Sunday)-
The whole parish collection is taken up by the women the first Sunday after Easter. Used for operating expenses and wherever the Bishop has a need.
DCCW stands for the Diocesean Council of Catholic Women.
